I know I said I wouldn’t feature my own mixes after I posted the Jay’s Bootleg Mix a few months ago, but it’s my site and I can do what I want. I won’t make a habit of it, just very occasionally. So, I whacked this out about a month ago. It was the result of my first bulk-new-tunes-purchase in a long while (due to the budget I’m on at the moment, travelling around Asia). Again, it was done using Virtual DJ, but from a listener’s perspective, I don’t think it makes too much of a difference.
The mix got some pretty positive feedback on the HappyHardcore.com forums when I posted it on there last month, so hopefully you’ll enjoy it. It starts off with some Upfront, then merges into Freeform, finally finishing with a bit of Gabber (my first foray into the genre!). All tracks are released and available on the usual download stores. If you can’t find any of them, let me know and I’ll get you a link.
I’m also going to take this opportunity to finally introduce myself with a DJ alias, instead of just ‘Jay’. I’ve been sticking mixes on the InterWebz for a little while now, so it’s about time I got myself a DJ name. I’ve gone for something simple – DJ Toi. Toi means ‘me’ or ‘I’ in Vietnamese, where I’ve spent a lot of time this last year. There’s nothing more to it than that. Hopefully it’s not too pretentious. I certainly didn’t intend it to be.
